Each slab is one block. Its width comes from the transaction count, and the coloured sections are that block’s composition by contract type. The distance back to the slab behind it is how long the chain took to produce it, so the depth of the scene is time rather than a block count — a stall opens a hole, and a burst closes the slabs up. Gaps are measured from the blocks’ own production times, never from when they reached the browser, because sync drops its pacing while catching up and the arrival order would then measure the catch-up rather than the chain.
